// History of the Clover Club
The daiquiri was created around 1898 by an American mining engineer named Jennings Cox while he was working in Cuba during the Spanish-American War. A US congressman may have brought it to New York bars a few years later.

The original recipe was simple: fill a tall glass with cracked ice, add a teaspoon of sugar, squeeze in the juice of one or two limes, and top with 2-3 ounces of white rum. Mix it all together with a long spoon until the glass frosts up. Later, bartenders started shaking it with ice instead, then straining it into a chilled glass.

The drink became famous thanks to two legendary Cuban bartenders, Emelio Gonzalez and Constantino Ribalaigua, who perfected it in Havana.
