Being a dad is no joke. You have to provide for your family, set the example, and somehow keep your sanity. After all that, sometimes you just need a moment to yourself.
For me, that moment often comes in the form of a great drink. Something simple but elevated, rich but not complex. Not just something to take the edge off, but something worth savoring.
When I first got into cocktails, I was drinking your basics. Beer, wine or a rum and coke. Then I went to a bar one night with some friends that, shockingly, did not have soda to mix drinks with.
Instead, they asked me what I liked, what kind of flavors, and what kind of spirits. They served me my first real cocktail, the old fashioned (recipe above)
My mind was blown, it's a drink with hardly any ingredients that takes almost no time to craft. Over time, I realized something important: when you make better drinks, you don’t need as many. You sip slower. You enjoy more.
That’s what Cocktail Dad is all about. Not getting fancy, but elevating your drinking. Simple, high-quality drinks you can make at home, to help you savor those moments even more.
Welcome to the club dad, I’m glad you’re here.
Cheers,
Ben Sullins
